Welcome to our Business Education Network, we have developed the Pulse as a means to deliver complimentary, high-level business information to our clients, prospects, and personal contacts, helping them keep a finger on the pulse of the ever-changing, dynamic business world of today.
In this short video, Joe Kraus talks about Slow Tech and how distracted we have become. This is a two-part series. In the first part, Kraus posits that the more distracted we are, the more distractible we become. In our next issue, the second part, he will provide advice to become more effective, create balance, and increase creativity.
In this first video Kraus states that there are common misconceptions about multi-tasking, and that in fact, we are both dumber and slower when we do so. He also demonstrates how we are over-training a part of our brain that is causing us harm as opposed to value.
His basic statement is that we are in a crisis of attention and have created a distraction culture that is causing a loss of creativity, focus, and insight. The video is insightful itself, and the follow up video in our next issue provides some practical tips to manage the crisis.
